1 – Get the legal stuff sorted out well in advance.
To get married in Victoria (Australia), you need to:
- Meet eligibility requirements
- Lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)
- Be married by a registered civil marriage celebrant or an authorised minister of religion
- Have 2 witnesses attend your wedding ceremony.
Then you can organise your elopement!
2 – Don’t forget about the beautiful details
Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the beautiful details of a wedding. The dress, the shoes, the first kiss, the first dance. Think about all of the things that you’d like to have and plan for them!
3 – Hire your dream photographer
Your photographer should help you take all of those details and create a magical day for you. Again, just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean that you should have anything but the most magical of memories.
4 – Don’t downplay the magic of your day
Eloping is getting married! It’s a beautiful moment that you can treasure forever. It’s special and unique and wonderful. Just because you’re not engaging in the thrill and frivolity of a big wedding doesn’t mean that your day is any less amazing and special.
